Our Promise.
A written commitment to every puppy and every home. Read it here. Print it. Sign it on go-home day if you like.
Why this exists
We breed Mastiffs because we love this dog. We want every puppy from Violet and Chief to land in a home that's right for them — and we back that up. This document is the written version of every conversation we have with prospective buyers. Bring questions.
1. What we promise about the puppy at go-home
Every puppy leaves us at 8 weeks with:
- A vet exam at go-home, clear of obvious health concerns
- Age-appropriate first vaccines
- Multiple rounds of dewormer
- A blanket with the litter scent
- A small bag of the food they have been eating
- A take-home folder with feeding, training, and the vaccine schedule
2. Your first vet visit
Take your puppy to your own vet within 72 hours of pickup. If your vet identifies a serious health issue we did not catch, you have three choices:
- Return the puppy to us within 7 days for a full refund.
- Keep the puppy and we cover documented vet costs related to that issue, up to the purchase price.
- Exchange for a puppy from a future litter, when available.
3. Genetic and congenital health guarantee
This guarantee covers issues that are clearly hereditary — meaning a veterinarian can document the condition is genetic, not the result of injury, diet, or care.
Covered for 24 months from your puppy's date of birth
- Hip dysplasia (documented by OFA-acceptable x-rays)
- Elbow dysplasia (documented by OFA-acceptable x-rays)
- Other major congenital defects affecting quality of life
Covered for 12 months from your puppy's date of birth
- Hereditary cardiac issues (documented by a board-certified veterinary cardiologist)
- Hereditary eye issues requiring surgical correction (entropion, ectropion, etc.)
What happens if something covered comes up
You choose one of:
- A replacement puppy from a future litter, when available, or
- A refund of up to half the original purchase price.
The original puppy stays with you. We do not ask for a beloved family member back to honor this guarantee.
What is not covered
- Bloat (GDV) — too dependent on feeding and exercise habits
- Injury, accident, or trauma
- Conditions resulting from inadequate vet care, diet, or housing
- Behavioral issues
- Anything outside the time windows above
How to make a claim
Send us the vet records and a written diagnosis from a licensed veterinarian. We are not going to fight you on it. If it is hereditary and it is in the window, we are on your side.
4. The lifetime return clause
If at any point in your puppy's life — six months from now or twelve years from now — you can no longer care for them, the dog comes back to us. No questions asked. No refund expected. But no shelter, no Craigslist, no rehoming to a stranger without our knowledge.
This is the most important promise on this page.
5. What we ask of you
A Mastiff is a 7-to-10-year commitment to a 150+ pound member of your family. By accepting one of our puppies, you agree to:
- Annual vet visits and current vaccinations
- A diet appropriate for a large-breed dog
- Indoor living — Mastiffs are companion dogs, not kennel dogs
- No chains, prong collars used as punishment, or aggressive training
- Spay or neuter by 18 months if your puppy is not registered for breeding
- Tell us first if you ever cannot keep them, before doing anything else
Acknowledgment
The undersigned have read this promise and agree to its terms. This document is signed in two copies on go-home day — one for the buyer, one for the breeder.
